It's comical that members of Congree think they can lasso AI and put it behind legislative walls. There is no comprehension of what "it" has already become. It varies person to person.
My livelihood and income would be severely impacted and knowing the way our government likes to control the population, there would be some pork in there to set aside funds that could be evenly distributed to impacted persons- oh wait- the financial system has AI built in so it would be paralyzed too. No checks are coming.
I always imagined a mass extinction event would end mankind and if AI is behind it, that would be just about on par for how it learned our mythology and human history and deemed it necessary.
I postulate we'll go out with a whimperr; at least, I find that thought more satisfying than going out with the sort of Big Bang Silicon Valley nihilists would relish. Anything that spoils their hyperbolic wet dreams is fine with me.
